- How to play
Balance the tree to make the values on the left and right side of the root equal by rearranging the tree nodes.
The colored tree nodes above the root can be rearranged by dragging and dropping them over another node.
Operations are calculated from top to bottom, following the arrows. The results are propagated all the way until they are compared at the root.
- What's an Equation Tree?
Equation Trees are a special case of Expression Trees with an equality operator located at the root of the tree.
Expression Trees are visual constructs typically used in Computer Science to represent complex operations and the precise order in which each sub-expression is evaluated.
- I haven't seen any games using Equation Trees. Is this a new concept?
Yes, Treequation is a new kind of math puzzle game. If you enjoy this new concept, please let us know in a review on the App Store or Google Play!
We can't wait to hear your feedback.
- How is the score calculated?
Each puzzle has a general difficulty level from Easy to Extreme based on the topology of the tree. The actual complexity of the corresponding equation depends on the specific set of nodes in the tree and the hints used, and is measured in stars from 1 to 6.
The general difficulty levels correspond to the following complexities:
- Easy -> 1 star
- Medium -> 1-2 stars
- Hard -> 3-5 stars
- Extreme -> 5-6 stars
Solving a puzzle earns you one of 6 titles based on the number of stars awarded for that puzzle, ranging from Beginner for 1-star puzzles to Grandmaster for 6-star puzzles.
In addition to the titles, a numerical score is also assigned based on the actual complexity of the level. You can think of the score as a more granular and accurate version of the stars diplayed on the level.
This also means that a Grandmaster can still have a higher score than another Grandmaster. This adds another level of competition and mastery.
- Can Treequation be played for free without any ads?
- Yes! Treequation has 45 full levels in the free version and there are no ads.
- Are there any in-app purchases in this game?
- There is only one optional in-app purchase (IAP) to unlock the full game, which offers an infinite number of procedurally-generated puzzles and two extra difficulty levels (Hard and Extreme).
- Can I play this game on another device and keep my progress?
- Treequation is a fully offline game and does not use any online data. Unfortunately, this also means that we don't store any progress outside of your device.
- Can I play the full version on another device?
Yes. After unlocking the full game on one device, you can play the full version on other devices of the same platform:
- On Android, your in-app purchase will be restored automatically when you first open the game on your new device
- On iOS, you can restore your in-app purchase by going to the game settings (gear button) and selecting the Restore Purchases button
- Does Treequation support Family Sharing?
Yes! After unlocking the full game only once on your device, you can share the full version of the game with your family members at no additional cost.
Please note that Google Play does not currently allow this for in-app purchases so this is only supported on iOS. If Google decides to support this in the future we'll certainly enable this feature on Android as well.
